Colleague
Joe Sterling, of Sterling Insights, contracted me to join
him to work the huge Informatica 2005 conference. Informatica
is a company that creates data integration solutions. That
sounds like mumbo jumbo, but they help people and companies
integrate data from all sorts of sources and format for
comparison. Hopefully, turning that data into information
and eventually knowledge.
There
were over 1100 participants at this conference. We worked
concurrently on 30" x 40" foamcore boards. Since
we had no videographers on us, the only folks who saw us
work in real time were the few folks in the front corner
where we worked. Not ideal, but that's what we had to work
with. We drew during the presentations in the gigantic ballroom,
and we'd each take a topic during the breakout sessions.
To
get our images seen and used, we taped them together into
folding screens chocked full of information that we placed
in the common areas of the conference. Participants got
to see the content grow over the course of two days.
